Beautifully written, as always!

Your description of Daeron's conflicting emotions, how he loathes his own armour of pettiness, yet clings to it - for he has very good reason for his hate, hasn't he? - and how Maeglor finally, in his refusal to return spite with spite, breaks through the protective shell: it's wonderfully done. It is hard to keep on hating somebody when you're faced with them and forced to realize that they are, after all, not quite the monsters you thought, but merely living, breathing creatures, full of flaws and prone to make horrible decisions, and too much like yourself for comfort.

>> No theme may be played that hath not its uttermost source in the One, nor can any alter the music in His despite. For he that attempteth this shall prove but Eru's own instrument in the devising of things more wonderful, which he himself hath not.<<

To me, the crimes committed by the Fëanorians always seemed beyond forgiveness, but I suppose this quote is, in its essence, the promise of their redemption, the assurance that they fulfilled their purpose. This scene is just perfect.
