Woo Hoo! Christmas in a tin can!

Ok, I know it's only August, but Patrick and I have just made arrangements to stay in an Airstream in the desert for Christmas! It's at Kate's Lazy Desert, owned by Kate Pierson of the B-52's! She also has a Lazy Meadow airstream camp in the Hudson Valley that I always wanted to stay in, but it was always booked.  At least in the desert we'll get to huddle around a hobo can when the sun goes down. I'll need to see if Pappy & Harriet's is open for Christmas Dinner, but if not, 'twill not be the first holiday dinner that has involved a gas station microwave. Wish I were joking about that.

(This also means that P. and I are spending cash money to stay in the only thing in California that's smaller than our apartment. I shouldn't be nearly as excited by this prospect as I am.)

Those are so colorful! It sounds like a really fun holiday. I didn't know Kate Pierson had a business. Smart lady. Anyway, those are adorable. Gas station microwave? lol, at least you're resourceful. Hope the place will be open. I was actually thinking about my own Xmas plans the other day - it's never too early. ;)

Oh wow, this sounds awesome! And this could be totally us; such sleeping places are really cool. We have some on our wish list, like a sheperd's hut for Siljan, or a real treehouse and so on - a tiny new version of a traditional log cabin in Norway was lovely. I hope this is going to be an awesome trip, and keep my fingers crossed for you not to need that gas station microwave.

Awesome! Do you know which Airstream you're getting? It looks like most of these do have kitchenettes, so the gas station microwave may not be necessary. They look beautifully refurbished. I've always loved Airstream trailers. The price is right and the setting is absolutely perfect. I envy you!

I can't believe I overlooked the kitchenettes part!!! LOL!! I am saved! If we can't eat at Pappy & Harriet's, I'll do something simple and painless like Christmas Burgers. :) I'm really excited-- Patrick has been so overwhelmed with work that we haven't done any real "California" things since he's been here. I'm really excited to go to Joshua Tree-- I've been down in that area twice so far, but once was in June and once was in September, and it was just too damn hot to be walking around in the desert.
