Hey Kenaz. I am madly working on a story now and haven't had time to read my prolific LJ buds, but when you posted this on silmfics, I sampled and then was caught. I'm using this as a treat when I need to take a writing break.

Whenever I read a story of yours I am simply blown away by your glorious use of language and the very visual nature of the scenes. In this one, I've loved your language evocative of music, very fitting to the subject, including the names of the chapters. So many fine moments here. Loved your opening characterization of Daeron as a bitter person existing in Valinor instructing mediocre students (great scene and reminiscent I might add of all the terrible recitals I've been to) and suffering a lack of inspiration, his joy at thinking he's being summoned to play for Manwe, and his anger when he finds out he's being sent on an errand to retrieve Maglor. I'm intrigued by his passion and wonder what the root of it is, aside from the obvious history which should be plenty, but yes there seems a personal note to it. So, I look forward to more.
Loved the description of the flight of the eagle, the powerful Manwe, and even more Daeron's sad description of a decadent Middle earth. Your description of the gulls' cries broke my heart, that and the prow of the ship breaking the foam. Seems you put your experience of going to Alaska to good use. Or was this written before you took your cruise?
Anyway, I'll comment as I get a chance, but it may take me a little time to read the whole story.
I will say that any story I read of yours is so very strong and beautifully written, and certainly those in the LOTR fandom feel to me like opening a door into another aspect of Middle-earth, as vibrant and rich in hue as the original, so that some of your characterizations have become like canon to me.
Later . . .
