So, a while back, I wrote 4 stories under a different pseudonym.  At the time, I had Reasons-- ever feel like you just want to fly under the radar a little bit? Or avoid drama? Or try something a little out of your creative comfort zone?-- but with the passage of years, it just seems silly, so I've combined the accounts in AO3 and am taking public ownership of them. Somehow I doubt this will be news to anyone. I just hope no one feels terribly misled. :(

So, without further ado or justification, I bring you the works of the author formerly known as [livejournal.com profile] eidolon_writes.

The Sentiment of Steel
Glorfindel/Ecthelion, R. Written for [livejournal.com profile] trekqueen, 2013 Sultry in September.
The Sentiment of Steel, or "Sentiment du Fer": a fencer’s ability to use his sword to feel and manipulate the opponent’s sword. A concept with which Glorfindel and Ecthelion are far too familiar.

A Crown of Green Leaves
Haldir/Legolas, PG-13. Written for [livejournal.com profile] ignoblebard for the 2012 LOTR SESA.
An unexpected visitor arrives in Eryn Galen at Midwinter with more than just foul weather following on his heels.

Feather and Fetch
Beleg/Haldir, PG-13. Written for [livejournal.com profile] iavalir, Ardor in August 2012
Haldir must look to his past to see his future.

Stronger Counsel
Legolas/Boromir, hard R, darker themes.
Written for [livejournal.com profile] rubyelf for the 2012 Sons of Gondor Trick-or-Treat exchange.
In Rivendell,
Isildur’s Bane has indeed awoken, and Boromir has begun to feel its insidious pull...

I know that! But I did not know while it was happening. IgnobleBard recommended A Crown of Green Leaves and Feather and Fetch to me. Yeah, well, my reaction to those was really funny. I said to him, "These are really good stories, but she sounds incredibly like Kenaz. She needs to find her own voice!" What an insufferably snobby thing to say, but, in fact, it is a compliment to you, because it means you do have a strong voice and self-confidence as a writer.

Ha! Funny! :D Yeah, the Boromir/Legolas fic was definitely a stretch for me, since I really don't like Boromir, but I'm kidding myself if I thought the others were appreciably different from everything else I had written. I actually quite like Sentiment of Steel, though. I'd been thinking about a sequel of sorts to Feather and Fetch, but it never got beyond the outline stage. Part of it might be cannibalized for something else.

I absolutely loved Sentiment of Steel, I remember, and I just read it again. I had a real lump in my throat and tears in my eyes again.

I love Ecthelion and Glorfindel, there were one of my first Silm OTP's, and I never find many stories about them.

Whomever you write as, you know I love your work :)

No, I get that. Take the pressure off for a bit and be free to write and not have people approach the piece with Expectations because hey, it's Kenaz. It's funny really, I wondered why I didn't know this writer at all when she'd just managed to make me enjoy Glorfindel/Ecthelion so much :D

It really stressed me out! It was nice to have a moment where I could just write *whatever* and not worry about peoples' expectations. And that freedom actually allowed me to write some things I really like! Sentiment of Steel is the last thing I've written that I feel really good about, so there's that.

:D

Unrelated: I went to a benefit for a mustang rescue tonight and it was awesome. But because it was in Malibu, there were Malibu people there. Which means I saw more fake boobs and horses in the same place than I have ever seen in my life. A very nice lady struck up a conversation with me while we were waiting for the horse gentling demo to start, and she was going on and on about Natural Horsemanship, and I was stunned that she was unable to see the irony between her insistence that Natural is Best when she had fake boobs, fake hair, duck lips, and an obvious face lift! I feel bad being judgy, because she was really very nice, but I'm unaccustomed to seeing plasticky people so close, and the Uncanny Valley aspect of it kind of weirded me out! Ok, I'm done being a terrible person for the night.

OMG that is so funny! Natural Horsemanship and Fake Humanity. But it sounds like her heart's in the right place.

Well, I really enjoyed Sentiment of Steel, but I can't claim I had any idea it was you. Hope you enjoyed your incognito swap experience though!

I love all these but my favorite is still A Crown of Green Leaves. I'm really glad to see you posted these. One thing, when I click on Stronger Counsel, it takes me to Feather and Fletch. Just wanted you to know in case you want to fix the link.

Thanks again for the Haldir/Legolas story. I don't save many stories but I actually have this one in epub format.

"A Crown of Green Leaves" drew me into this fandom and, eventually, into writing slash myself, and I'm forever grateful for that. I didn't know anybody of the fandom at the time, and had no idea yet what brilliant writers I would encounter; but I still remember one of my first impressions, which was "wow, if this fandom is creating this kind of writing, and having authors of this quality, what a brillant place to be." :D
I totally understand the desire to remain under the radar, particularly for a well-known author or person, and doing it in this way seems like a very sensible way of doing it.
