... And now for something *completely* different...

Some background:
It all began when someone posted a link to a Hephaistion/Chewbacca story in the [livejournal.com profile] ithurtsmybrain community. Yes, you did read that correctly. Hephaistion, lover of Alexander, and Chewbacca, interstellar Wookie. I was so impressed that I decided to take up the gauntlet and write pick a pairing from their enormous (and horrifying) list.

For all you Terry Pratchett fans out there, I picked this pairing: Grievous Bodily Harm (from Good Omens)... and Boromir.

Please don't pelt me with heavy objects.

He he he! I had so much fun with this. Good Omens is one of my favorite books, and easily one of the funniest things I have ever read, and there's just something about Boromir that screams "easy target"... ;)

Visiting LJ tonight and couldn't help commenting. I just bought Good Omens recently. I'm saving your story for after, but I'm quite sure I'm going to be thinking about Boromir the whole time I'm reading, so doubtless you will have made an unusual contribution to my reading experience, *lol*

Oooh! I do hope you like it. It's one of the only books I've ever read that made me laugh uncontrollably in public. It has exactly the sort of random, tangential, absurdist humor that I adore, but people seem to either love it or hate it.

I love Lord of the Rings and I love Good Omens, but even without me being partial this is a bloody brilliant crossover. You've got the voice exactly right. In my mind Boromir will always be the Warrior Formerly Known As Boromir from now on.

This killed me dead:

“You may call me...” he paused for dramatic effect. “Poncy Blond Elves.”

And then, just when I thought I couldn't be any deader, there was this:

Just before he swung his leg over the side of the strange metal beast, he noticed that there was some sort of slogan painted on its shiny tail end, and his heart skipped a beat.

It read: My other ride is your mum.

So perfect. :D

Thank you for sharing, I was in need of a laugh!

So glad you liked. I giggled quite a bit while I wrote it. And while I love Boromir as an authentic, multidimensional tragic character, it's awfully fun to abuse him from time to time.

As I said to someone else, the Good Omens/LOTR crossover concept provides a wealth of damning possibilities. Crowley/Frodo? Shudder to think!
